Hi Eric ,
cc: Chris Browne , find "VAR"
Unix-Hardware-Buyer-HOWTO is an excellent read !
Thank you !
Here are a couple of minor suggestions:
a)
3.11. CD-ROM Drives
"You have a SCSI system, so get a SCSI CD-ROM"
<http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Unix-Hardware-Buyer-HOWTO/basics.html>
At this point in the document , IDE vs SCSI has not been discussed ,
so in fact I do not "have a SCSI system" ;-) I imagine this was
overlooked during a reorg . IDE vs SCSI is now discussed in Section 4 .
b)
<http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Unix-Hardware-Buyer-HOWTO/links.html>
Normal link decay :
"Andrew Comech's The Cheap /Linux/ Box ... is updated every two weeks."
-> has not been updated this century .
The Caveat Emptor guide
-> timed out
Dick Perron has a PC Hardware Links page.
-> 404
Installing a Motherboard page
-> 404
Tom's Hardware Guide
-> link could be updated to http://www.tomshardware.com/ , most common
addr for years
Christopher B. Browne has a page on Linux VARs
-> 404 , now found @
<http://linuxfinances.info/info/linuxvars.html#VARS>
He also recommends the Linux VAR HOWTO.
-> Red Hat redirect to unrelated page , current home :
<http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/VAR-HOWTO.html>
The Linux Hardware Database
-> unrelated web site , does not seem to be a distro independent
database around any more , possible reference :
<http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Hardware-HOWTO>
HTH,
