hi all,

sorry for the off-topic post.

there are some howto's which are so out of date that they've become
completely useless, and even worse, misleading and detrimental to our
community. i'm sure there are quite a few, but the ones i know about
are the 3dfx, soundblaster-awe and hebrew howtos.

i just got hebrew working on my system, and it was quite a challange
since i've been pretty english-centric and had not the slightest clue
about what ucs, utf, unicode and keymaps were when i began.

on a lark, i sent an email to the maintainer of the hebrew howto a few
weeks ago asking if the howto is still being maintained. the last
update was in 1995. things have changed considerably in the past *year*
let alone the past 8 years.

i've gotten no response.

i've been playing around with the idea of updating this howto.

are there any provisions for "hijacking" someone else's howto?

pete
