docbook: Thread: How do I convert sgml to text format in RH7.1

I would like to generate text version of LDP-Author-Guide.sgml document like 
the one at
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/linux-doc-project/LDP-Author-Guide/LDP-Author-Guide.txt

I have access to rehdat 7.1 and debian 2.2r3. My test of text
conversion on rh7.1 failed as follows

[root@dual sgml]# docbook2txt myfile.sgml
Using catalogs: /etc/sgml/sgml-docbook-3.1.cat
Using stylesheet: /usr/share/sgml/docbook/utils-0.6/docbook-utils.dsl#print
Working on: /root/tjdocbook/sgml/myfile.sgml
jade:E: cannot find "SGML_STYLESHEET"; tried "SGML_STYLESHEET", 
"/usr/share/sgml/SGML_STYLESHEET"
jade:E: specification document does not have the DSSSL architecture as a 
base architecture
Hello, World  Hello, World this is my first docbook.  apples - my favorite 
fruit. apples - my favorite fruit. apples\
- my favorite fruit. apples - my favorite fruit.
Can't Access `file://localhost/root/tjdocbook/sgml/myfile.html'
Alert!: Unable to access document.

lynx: Can't access startfile
rm: cannot remove `myfile.html': No such file or directory
[root@dual sgml]#

Any pointer where is the problem ?

Well, the LDP doesn't use the docbook2* wrappers to generate the HTML
docs, but I'll see if I can shed some light...

I think it's getting confused here...  I'm guessing that SGML_STYLESHEET
should be getting replaced with something, and that it's just a variable
name.  What version of the tools do you have installed?  rpm -qa |grep
docbook should give you most of the tools...
