Finally I couldn't manage a linkedin account for the LDP - linkedin is
very personal aimed and I couldn't manage the profile. So I created a
personal profile aimed to LDP. I could, in the move, remove the french
accent linkedin insisted to give to my previous profile :-(

Do you know why linkedin insists to say the 27514 post code (UNC) is
Raleigh-Durham and not Chapell Hill??

I also openned a wordpress account, visible from linkedin;

All this is only LDP related.

Personally, I long ago got tired of being spammed by LinkedIn, and won't
have anything to do with that cult. Your Mileage May Differ.<tm>

You didn't see me complaining about other people signing up, did you?
That would _not_ be what one would call an accidental omission.

All I did was to point out, incredibly briefly, that some of us regard
typical Web 2.0 commercial sites's spamming habits as noxious, and to
hyperlink to an essay explaining why our reliance on those sites tends
to directly undermine what we've been trying to achieve through open
source.

If you feel somehow oppressed, by my 3-line post pointing out that
perspective, please feel free to take your complaint to Interpol.

And yet you have to spend another dozen+ lines playing the victim.

I'm not sure what a web site's '2.0' status has to do with spamming, but
perhaps you need a better spam checker. Me, I don't get any spam from
LinkedIn. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe you're not. In any event, I'm sorry
you had such a terrible time with it. Perhaps 'Web 3.0' will be more to
your liking.

Sorry, this has gone off topic far enough. jdd, thank you for setting
this up.

Passive-aggressive much?

I've never fscking stooped so low as to "play the victim" in my long
life. In point of fact, I was (obviously) mocking your rhetoric, twice,
not claiming any sort of persecution. (And this will make three times.)

> I'm not sure what a web site's '2.0' status has to do with spamming....

It does not. Nor did I so claim.

What I said was that I long ago tired of getting spammed by LinkedIn,
and that many of us find the spamming habits of typical Web 2.0
commercial sites noxious.

That really should not be difficult for you to parse. One suspects you
simply don't want to -- and I notice that, coincidentally, you are a
LinkedIn user. I'm delighted that you're happy with it. Really.

I'm not a social network addict nor a blog man, but I had to begin
using this for my two daughters working in entertainment (see my web
site). I know they find work and money through Myspace.

for my own use, I manage my own server :-)

Just one brief follow-up.

I did not "have a terrible time with it", was not at any time overrun by
LinkedIn spam, and _did not so state_.

That is because, Mr. Komarinski, I am a system administrator. You claim
to have heard of the profession, and in fact assert it to be yours, as
well.

Years ago, when I noticed how LinkedIn's business model got implemented,
when the first few sleazy forged-mail advertisements from their relays
started coming in, I banned them on all my MTAs -- and haven't been
bothered by them since.

I assume your parsing error on that point must be the source of your
rubbish about my "playing the victim". I don't "play the victim", Mr.
Komarinski: I use computing technology to make it serve _my _needs.
You know, the way a sysadmin does.

Glad to help you out, on that.
