to allow converting old HOWTOs to the wiki, may this tool can be of
some use

http://diberri.dyndns.org/wikipedia/html2wiki/index.html

it's far from perfect, but better than nothing :-( as long as we don't
have docbook converting

That's a very bad idea, your going have to go behind it and fix up all
the errors.

This tools is using the old moin markup and wont work as expected in
the new wiki.

It's unfortunately worse than nothing, nothing is pasting the plain
text into the wiki which will give a reasonably quick clean base.

I also suggest everyone learns and uses wiki Creole, as that will
allow easy porting to most other wiki's:

I'm still hoping someone will help with the conversion of some of the
doc's from SGML to XML.

Do not worry. We have something. We have converting tool but I did not
published it yet because it is not perfect.
My point was to have stable tool that could handle DocBook XML flawlessly.
So, I will improve it a bit and then it would become better.

The online wiki converter:

http://diberri.dyndns.org/wikipedia/html2wiki/index.html

is a good idea, but for Moin it's outdated.

It's usefull to translate from the present web site to Moin
(eventually to translate from HOWTOs if ever we don't have the docbook
source, or to allow authors to use html source)

could somebody take a look to see if it can be fixed? it seems pretty
easy (for example <br> is translated [[BR]] when it should be <<BR>>)

thanks
