hi all,

I am new to this mailing list. This question is not specific to Linux but
more related to "traceroute" in general.

I was looking for a way to identify the router/gateway before a particular
host. The only way I could think of right now is to do a traceroute to the
host and look at the hop before it.

I have looked into this solution and have realised that if you have IP
Maquerading, you can hide from traceroute. But other than that I would like
to know if anyone knows a way for the router to hide itself from traceroute.

thanks
arvind

Welcome to the list, but please realize that this list is for discussion
**about** the Linux Documentation Project and **NOT** for general Linux
questions. Please see the info and pointers at:

  http://www.linuxdoc.org/mailinfo.html

If you'd still like to stay here help with the LDP, you're certainly
welcome to... but if you're looking for general Linux info, your best
solution is to look elsewhere.

Thanks,
Dan
