Hi Dan,

I'm quite new to Docbook (about 1 month to be exact). I used the standard tools recommended by LDP.
The "route" i took is not exactly what i wanted (fast, smooth, and easy), but it was the only thing at hand for me.
I know there are better tools out there. So whatever its worth, here it is....:

Docbook XML -> HTML : Docbook DTD, Docbook XML, LDP DSSL, Norman Walsh DSSL, JadeTex, db2html
( macro files from Redhat site). - platform Linux (Tried the windows versions of Jade but it didn't work for me).
Only thing i noticed is that the table of contents can only go 3 levels deep.

Docbook XML->PDF : same as DB->HTML but using db2pdf, output was ok but had problems with .gif files
it only accepts .png. I wasn't satisfied with its rendering using acrobat readers for it did not take advantage of
some features available in the readers. So i tried another and did it the long way.....

HTML->PDF: Using HTMLDOC (a windows tool) by Easy Software Products <http://easysw.com> under
GNU. Output was satisfactory (and i was able to use my .gif files ('whew') ) table of contents: 4 levels (ok for
most docs). However it cannot render html orderered / unordered lists quite well. Tags <LI> <P> blah..blah..blah
</P></LI> appear disjointed in PDF form. I had to manually change it to <P><L> blah..blah.blah</L></P>

regards,

phil
