Random thought.
1) Installing the LDP documents needn't require make
2) They're not executable
3) It can be done by the "install" utility or even `cp' with the right
permissions
This means that rolling a .spec (rpm), a debian package description file
(don't know what they're called) that simply installed the documentation
to the correct documentation directory shouldn't be too difficult...
Or, rolling a small wrapper script that asks "Which directory do you
want to install the LDP documentation [default: /usr/share/doc]?". This
method avoids rpm's and debs...
