Hi,

This is Sri Ramadoss from Chennai, India. My mother tongue is Tamil. I have
been involved in Tamil translation of Gnu website(1), Debian Website(2) &
Documentation(3), KDE translations(4) and is also contact person for Ubuntu
Tamil Team(5).

I wish to volunteer to start translating the TLDP contents to my language
and build a team to do it. Please clarify as to where I should I begin.

Ramadoss,

I think this is a great idea and am happy to see that your dedicating so
much time to the translation of so many documents. To start, I would
encourage you to start with basic concepts of Linux and work your way
towards more complex documents. If that doesn't seem to be of interest,
perhaps start with the top and work your way down. No matter how you do it,
I will be of benefit to TLDP and the GNU/Linux community.

Great Work,

Paul

Thats a good idea. Thank you. Will it be preferable if I, wget the html
documents and send it back to this list so that people here will help
committing the same to tldp.org? Or some other place?

The better thing to do is get a LDP account and commit changes. Refer

http://ldp.digimirror.nl/LDP/LDP-Author-Guide/html/getaccount.html

The document doesn't mention translators but IIRC, they can get commit
access too.

You can't just go by the last revision date since many revisions are
minor ones which mainly fix typos, etc. You might check which docs
other translation projects have recently translated.

Thank you. I had a look at it. Will do little bit of work before requesting
for the access.
