   Hello,

Some time ago I wrote a hint for the Linux From Scratch project,
which explained in detail how to install a LFS system inside an
encrypted partition; then some people reported that the hint could
also be adapted to other GNU/Linux distributions, such as Debian.
Therefore I decided to rewrite the hint and submit it to TLDP.

This howto may seem redundant with the Disk-Encryption-HOWTO;
however it takes a more simple and straightforward approach to
the problem of encrypting the / filesystem. For example, the
Disk-Encryption-HOWTO does not explain clearly how to patch the
kernel or util-linux so as to enable strong crypto support.
Furthermore, this howto uses grub, whereas mine uses lilo,
so both can be considered as complementary.

I'm currently looking for feedback about my howto, which is
available at: http://www.cr0.net:8040/code/crypto/efs-howto.php
The howto is at the moment in plain text, but I intend to convert
it to xml soon.

Regards,

Christophe Devine.
