You might want to ping Tille (Machtelt Garrels) on the discussion list
for some feedback and suggestions on "How to write."  She has completed
two very in-depth book-sized guides, the "Introduction to Linux: A
Hands-on Guide" and the "Bash Guide for Beginners," which is currently
being reviewed, and will be published soon.

Tille has a knack for organizing her material very well (as do YOU!),
and may have suggestions that could be included for something like
this.  Maybe she can tell you the process she uses to outline and write
her documents, and some of that can be gleaned for use in the Author's
Guide.

Just wanted to pass it on!
