Hi

I authored the following documents

LDP FAQ - i would like to cover more material if
necessary and make it comprehensive.does it lack
anything now?

Deciding If Linux is right for you HOWTO - this one
has been recently released.I would like more feedback
on it. I am planning to revise it shortly. what more
should i add?

I maintain the following documenats

DOSEMU HOWTO - I dont use this program anymore. I am
not sure whether its outdated or not. Can someone take
care of this?

Automount HOWTO - this one seems to be pretty much
active as i recieve a lot of feedback on this but i am
unable to answer a few technical questions?. should i
handover this doc to someone more competent?

Linux Swap space howto - I feel that the sharing a
space space is no more an important thing with the
amount of real estate we have nowadays. the process is
certainly not suitable for new users. This document
doesnt seem to need any more work. Is there a
maintained but not active status in LDP?

I am awaiting further inputs on all these documents as
I got some time now for working on this if necessary

regards
rahul

There are a lot of things wrong with it. Such an FAQ should have been
written by volunteers that have followed the mailing list for some time
and understand more about LDP.

I didn't find much in the HOWTO about "Is Linux right for you". Where
is the discussion of why Linux hasn't made more inroads on the desktop?
There are many problem with hardware not supported under Linux, but
supported under Window. A lot of hardware is sort-of supported under
Linux (provided you compile the kernel yourself, are willing to not use
some of the functionality, etc.). Where is all this (and more)
discussed?

Since Linux is used primarily for servers, where is the discussion on
what type of servers it's used on and if you should use it for servers?
It seems that you assumed that the reader was considering using Linux on
the desktop.

I get the impression that you haven't done the in-depth research needed
to write good HOWTOs on these topics.

Well can we compare against your version please?
Then decide which is better.

You make some good points for enhancement, but I fail
to see why you deliver the points in such a nasty way.

He tried, it ain't perfect, and he _asked for suggestions_ showing he is
willing to put in the time to make it better.

So ease up!

hi david

ok. i am not claiming it was a near ideal document.
any constructive criticisms on howto improve it would
welcome. if you are prepared to write the content
yourself and send me I would be glad to accept and add
it up immediately.

i realised that the faq's or howtos were not complete.
i never claimed that they were. if you can point me to
related resources or content please do

regards
rahul

LDP FAQ

Examples in each section about what a guide, HOWTO, etc are. No need to cut
and paste just hyperlink..

How to access man pages ie. konqueror, man command, xman, info, etc...

Hyperlink to authorguide so potential authors know what they are getting
themselves into.

People normally get the complete LDP on CDROM when they buy commercial
distributions don't they? also on Linux magazine distro's as well? They can
buy it seperately through
http://www.embeddedlogic.com/ELSweb/LDPCD_info.html?

Overview of other languages as well. ie. Romaninan LDP, Italian LDP, etc....

Binh.
