No, its as I stated: sgml2html -c ascii <file>
I'm looking at the script.

I haven't seen any special chars when running in that
fashion. Please provide an example if this is a problem
in any of the text HOWTOs (http://tldp.org/HOWTO/text/)
and I will correct the script.

I haven't seen any overstrikes or anything of that
nature in years in our HOWTOs.
