Thank you all for helping me out, I have figured out more of what it is
and I still don't know what to do about it. =) It has to do with my
DOCTYPE decleration. I have a project that I have been working on
generating documentation for my company. I looked at docbook when I
started and saw the <sect1>, <sect2>, etc. tags and didn't know I had the
option for <section>'s. I really like... what's the word... orthoganal
comes to mind. That I as an author don't have to worry how deep in
sections I am, the program deals with that. Anyhow, I saw the sect1's and
didn't guess that there was another option. =)
In working on this HOWTO though I see the light and so want to try to
migrate the xslt's I have been working on to operate on a subset of
docbook rather than my custom dtd. Since I am using xslt though I need to
be able to parse the documents in an xml parser and a public url is
required in xml DOCTYPE's. So my DOCTYPE looks like:
<!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1//EN"
This works fine in xerces (java xml parser) but when I run it through
docbook2html I get:
jade:/home/will/ift-5-report/ift-5.xml:3:81:E: URL not supported by this version
and none of my tables or cross references work. It runs fine if I use:
<!DOCTYPE article PUBLIC "-//OASIS//DTD DocBook XML V4.1//EN">
Is there any known way for me to have a valid xml file that jade will
parse correctly?
