I am on the staff list and hold 2-3 positions described below:
Position Title
Prototyper/developer
Purpose of the position - how does it contribute to the organization's mission?
The purpose is to determine issues that have to be
resolved, technical such as the templates and generators
and non-technical such as bringing librarian scientists
on board.
Responsibilities - specific tasks expected to be performed.
The task is on-going with no deadlines.
Prototypes and ideas are developed and first presented
the staff list for comments and feedback before
presenting to the discuss-list for implementation
Commitment - how much time, is it flexible, short or long term?
There is no limit to how much time one can spend.
Qualifications - skills, education required.
Knowledge on tools and processes and imagination.
Supervisor / Direct reports - who manages this position, who reports to
this person?
Nobody reports to this person.
This person reports to staff list and discuss list.
Training / Mentoring - what kind of orientation assistance does the
volunteer receive?
No training, no mentoring, only feedback from
TLDP mailing lists as well as general public
finding prototypes interesting.
Policies Affecting Assignment - confidentiality, background checks, if any.
None
Benefits of the position - what does the volunteer gain from volunteering?
Only benefit is for resume, showing innovation in practice.
Position Title
Public Relations
Purpose of the position - how does it contribute to the organization's mission?
Purpose is to improve TLDP visibility by creating
announcements
Responsibilities - specific tasks expected to be performed.
When appropriate write announcement and submit for review
first on staff list for comments, then for discuss list
for comments and implementation.
Commitment - how much time, is it flexible, short or long term?
Writing announcement requires of the order of 10 hours
active work. Following this through the entire process
takes up to 6 months.
Qualifications - skills, education required.
General writing skill, knowledge on TLDP and stamina.
Supervisor / Direct reports - who manages this position, who reports to
this person?
Nobody reports to this person
This person reports to staff list and discuss list
Training / Mentoring - what kind of orientation assistance does the
volunteer receive?
No training, no mentoring, only feedback from
TLDP mailing lists.

Benefits of the position - what does the volunteer gain from volunteering?
Only benefit is for resume, showing ability to work in public.
Position Title
Point of contact, Northern Europe
Purpose of the position - how does it contribute to the organization's mission?
The idea is to be a point of contact listed in announcements
with media. This is currently a new/untried position but is
listed in the latest announcement about to be released.
Responsibilities - specific tasks expected to be performed.
Answer inquieries from media and general public.
Commitment - how much time, is it flexible, short or long term?
No experiences gained yet, expected to be short periods
following announcements.
Qualifications - skills, education required.
Ability to communicate clearly, knowledge on TLDP
Supervisor / Direct reports - who manages this position, who reports to
this person?
Not yet determined, possibly Public Relations.
Training / Mentoring - what kind of orientation assistance does the
volunteer receive?
Not yet determined, none so far.
