| Alternatively, export to .png from directly within OpenOffice.org.

It's generally difficult to convert a vector format to a bitmap if the
original contains any kind of text. The key here is to use a big sans
serif typeface and use as little text as possible in your layout.

Usually things like flowcharts get published to the web as PDF's with
a small bitmapped (png/jpg/gif) preview image. Click on the image to
download the PDF and zoom in on the PDF as close as you want.

Embedding graphics into a printed publication usually involves
postscript, which is a good base format for things like flowcharts.
The good thing is that OO spits out both PDF and Postscript if you
want it to. The bad thing is dealing with embedded fonts (or not) and
your text misaligning all over the place. This truly *sucks* and is a
nightmare in the graphics design field. I do this crap for a living
though, so just hand me the file when it's functionally finished and
I'll technically clean up and maintain it in all its required formats
from there on. I don't mind shepherding one more file and it doesn't
look like it'll receive that many updates over time anyway once it
crystallizes into a definite form.

Bas
