DocBook is the final result of the Hal Computer Systems/Davenport Group's
collaboration with O'Reilly dating from ca. 1991 to produce a DTD suitable
for publishing technical documentation to international standards.
Linuxdoc was created as a hobbyist DTD by Matt Welsh from Tom Gordon's
QWERTZ DTD, sometime in 1993/4, as I remember. But certainly well *after*
what is now known as DocBook.
Best person to ask to confirm would probably be Erik Troan. Or Matt.
