discuss: Does TLDP have a mission or vision statement?

You are correct that we are not the *only* source of documentation. 
Perhaps then the sample vision statement should change the words 
"authoritative source" to "premier source" or something similar.  The 
idea being that we want to be a highly respected supplier of 
documentation.  We strive to be "the best."

With these changes we sould have the following vision statement:

The Linux Documentation Project will be recognized as the premier source 
for Linux documentation.
