In the USA's copyright statute, although attribution is a right reserved
to the creator, at his/her option, it can be disclaimed.  (You can say
"I don't care whether you retain attribution on this instance of my
work, when you redistribute it, create/redistribute derivatives, etc.")

That's in 17 USC 106A.  http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap1.html#106a
