Strange, I always thought vision is the faculty of seeing, and mission
was a set of goals which had been set by a higher authority.
To be perfectly honest, I can't really see why the LDP needs a misson
statement or a vision thing. I have read the balance of this thread
and there is nothing in it which would convince me of the requirement
for either. LDP is what it is - The Linux Documentation Project. The
mission is to document linux, the vision is to document linux. LDP
wishes to document linux, and at the moment it is - documenting linux.
Mission statements and visions, to my mind, are the property of
companies with names like Consignia, or TransPerfect. Of course,
perhaps the LDP needs such a name? IMO placing statements like these
on the page would lead to alienation of 'old-hands' and those whose
choice of GNU/Linux comes from political/theroretical mores. Better by
far to have a link to a manifesto, which is already there.
