Plone's performance, when used correctly (squid, a lot of caching) is
comparable to some PHP solutions, for example it is quite similar in
performance to Mambo (PHP based CMS).
A product which might be useful for TLDP is the PloneHelpCentre
documentation product.

Although TLDP will likely want to structure things a different way :).
I know a little plone but not enough to help, be warned that the
learning curve is very steep but no CMS system is simple to
customise...
