I've seen this happen in other projects. There's one "leader type"
person on a team who leaves for whatever reason. The people just
'below' the 'leader' form a small group of individuals who are each
hestitant to step up to the plate because that could be perceived more
or less as a power grasp, a sort of coup d'etat. (I sometimes wonder
what would happen to Linux if Linus Torvalds gets hit by a bus)
I think filling the position of coordinator is more important than
polite humility. Hans Bol's idea of forming a duo with Rahul Sundaram
sounds like a very good compromise. I seem to gather from Rahul's
comments, although he doesn't say it in as many words, that he'd
rather not be the sole new review coordinator for the long term. A
role as a sort of mentor to Hans, who has indicated a willingness to
take the position, looks like a practical way to go.
But of course, that's just my two cents. I'll get my butt moving and
find a fitting document to review, as I promised I would. ;-)
