One way we can do this is to open for a new document category
and accept documents life the one discussed in this thread.

Mostly when I make a proposal I also make a prototype.
These are not always functional but at least I hope they
are illustrative. In this case I offer my
    Storage Application Note

as a rudimentary illustration.

I feel there is a need for overview documents for wide
topics with relevant links to specific HOWTOs too.

We discussed application notes, overviews and related
proposals some time ago, you might find more in the
archives.
