I read the entire thread here first.
While we can all hope for good documentation to be
included with the software we download, that is still
not always the case. Yet even when it is I still feel
there is room for a document on TLDP for a major
package or system.

The problem is that a user does not always know what is
out there, how it can help him or her, or what the name
of the system is. Browsing the front page of Freshmeat
I see numerous nonobvious names such as Softgun, Sylpheed,
tsnontsgate and much, much more. TLDP can then help people
in finding a solution. Earlier I proposed an overview type
of documents to focus on exactly this.

This issue is not new on TLDP, I hope we can discuss and
determine a policy for what to include on TLDP and how to
present it to our readers.

An overview document might satisfy both views.
