There are volunteers, anyway, to convert other formats to XML. I recently
did the SCSI internals guide, for instance, which is nearly ready for
review, from OpenOffice writer to XML.

There are tools to convert from HTML to DocBook XML. Should not even take
half an hour, unless you want to submit a real big bunch of documents, of
course ;-)

I wish that everybody would stop making authors afraid of submitting
documents, and instead of just telling them "it should be in DocBook or
LinuxDoc", adding a little bit of help on how to convert their particular
doc to our formats. We should be more careful not to scare new authors
away, I think. Sometimes answers to questions of new authors lack a bit
of tact. We should all try to work on that. David's idea of a really
short Author Guide/HOWTO is a step in the good direction.
