Hey Tille:

If you can change just the webserver configuration, try that first.
I'm 100% certain that that will solve your problem.

If you switch to HTML stylesheets, you might find that there are some
formatting differences. Besides, XHTML is newer (it's only, what, five
years old as a standard? heh) and therefore sexier :)

I just ran the stylesheets here -- the output is reasonably similar,
but the HTML stylesheets output ISO-8859-1, while the XHTML
stylesheets output UTF-8.  So that switch would fix your problem in
its own way -- but it would be fixing the symptom, not the cause.
