Hello Ray,

A couple of remarks with your document:

- - There is an XML tag for note. You can simply do this:
	<note><title>Mismatches in Google</title>
<para>The reason that you find such mismatches is that many of the
sites on the web, including my own, are organized with web logging
software. That software allows the editors of the sites to
continually add new stories to the site, so what is on the front
page one day is frequently quite different from what you will find
the next day. The information you were looking for is often still
on the site, it might just be back in the old stories. It's worth
a look.</para>
	</note>

- - Typing "help getting started" should be more clear. You have to do this
in the info browser, of course, but this is not clear from the text.
Also, a word on terminal windows might be appropriate, since a couple of
lines further you say "If you are used to Windows..." (btw it's MS
Windows). On the other hand, browsers like Konqueror support man and
info, for instance type "man:ls" or "info:ls" in the Location field and
you do have a scrollbar.

- - My main remark with this HOWTO are about IRC. IRC is in fact a badly
written protocol, and if we are going to encourage even more people to use
it, there will be even more netsplits. Also, IRC is very old-fashioned,
and _limited to_ about 30.000 (not over 30k as you say) users per network,
hence there are now so many networks.
While you talk about Gaim, it might be good to point out that ICQ or MSN
are also options. Jabber might also be worth mentioning as the next-gen
chat program.
Also, this business with the channel names only works on the server where
the channel is active, if I do /join #mozilla-devl or anything else you
mention, I am the only one on that channel because it is created for me
when I join it on the server where I am connected. I think it should
stand out more in your doc that the available channels are very much
dependent on the server you choose.

- - About the quality of TLDP docs: I think we have made/are making a fair
effort to move outdated docs into the old or unmaintained sections now.
The ones that are listed as being current now, even if they are old,
contain useful knowledge, afaik.
- - You might also want to link to the categorical index of the HOWTOs to
make it easier to find the one that you need.

- - Project web sites: maybe list a couple of your favorite ones as
examples?
- - Same for wiki's, I know that I had trouble understanding what it really
was until I saw one.

- - You might want to add something about newsgroups and LUGs.

Tille.
