I think a Framebuffer and BootSplash HOWTO would be a good addition.
There's is allot you can do - not just an image. For example, you
can change your font, and your font size. You can also do a border
or background style image like some distributions do during install.
Getting it to work can be complex because you may need to recompile
your kernel.
