As Guru already said, I have created some scripts that correct LyX' SGML and do a lot of other nice things too. They are described in:
http://www.karakas-online.de/mySGML/
Currently, only 1.2.0 is working (maybe also 1.2.1, but I don't know about 1.2.3). Versions 1.3.2 and 1.3.4 do NOT work for DocBook, due to bugs in LyX. I am in contact with the LyX development team to iron these issues out.

and we will fix it, just as we did with Guru's HOWTO. :-)
