In all honesty, although I'm a long-time subscriber to debian-legal, I
only rarely dip into discussions there in real-time, because of the time
wasted rehashing old ground and/or hobbyhorses with indefatigable
cranks. It starts with the "all licences must be contracts" people and
often goes downhill from there.
I'm not saying there isn't good, fruitful discussion on that list. It's
just that you have to consider carefully whom you consider to speak for
the mailing list as a whole, and why. I rather suspect it's more common
than people realise for a particularly loopy statement to go
unchallenged because nobody has the time or energy to waste on debate.
