You could also look into the "dict" package. On debian I find:

(0) keeling /home/keeling_ dpkg -l | grep dict
ii amaya-dict-en 2.4a-1 English dictionary for Amaya
ii aspell-en 0.33.7.1-5 English dictionary for aspell
ii dict 1.5.5-10 Dictionary Client
ii dict-elements 20001107-a-1 Data regarding the Elements
ii dict-foldoc 20020209-1 FOLDOC Dictionary Database
ii dict-gazetteer 1.3-1 U.S. Gazetteer
ii dict-gcide 0.44-2 A Comprehensive English Dictionary
ii dict-jargon 4.3.0-1 Jargon File 4.3.0
ii dict-vera 1.8-4 V.E.R.A. - A Dictionary of Computer Related
ii dict-wn 1.7-1 WordNet v1.7
ii dictd 1.5.5-10 Dictionary Server
ii iamerican 3.1.20-21.1 An American English dictionary for ispell.
ii wenglish 2.0-2 English dictionary words for /usr/share/dict

... among others. So, "dict hacker" checks:

From The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.44
   [gcide]:

   From WordNet (r) 1.7 [wn]:

From The Free On-line Dictionary of Computing (09 FEB 02) [foldoc]:

From Jargon File (4.3.0, 30 APR 2001) [jargon]:
