I would recommend that Adam take a close look at rsync, assuming he is 
using a Linux system. "rsync -av" is a truly formidable tool, and the man 
page explains rather well other and greater capabilities. For example, 
simple rsync commands are used to keep many Red Hat mirrors up to date.
