[More about proprietary software, mis-designated "commercial" by several
people throughout the preceding discussion, and in context of the 1997
WordPerfect mini-HOWTO.]

1. I believe you mean "proprietary". Commercial means characterised by
being the object of commerce. E.g., if I sell you a 7-CD set of
Official Debian 3.0r1, that is by definition commercial software,
notwidthstanding the fact that it's also 100% open source.
2. Note that many proprietary software packages _may_ be lawfully
redistributed. Examples: xv, pico/pine, djbware.
3. Many other proprietary packages may be lawfully acquired for free
from authorised distribution points on the Net, even though they may not
be _RE_distributed by members of the general public. Examples include
Corel WordPerfect 8.0 Desktop Personal Edition, which remains available
for lawful download and on US $1.99 CDs from bulk CD vendors.
