Again, this is off-topic but... the name in 1999 was chosen by the
founder Deb Richardson, who is no longer involved and her reasons are
pretty much lost in the mists of time although a really thorough search
of the archives *might* turn them up.

There has been some discussion since about the name, which some people
like and some people don't, but there has never been a serious
discussion about changing it.

Please move discussions of LinuxChix that don't relate to the HOWTO
somewhere where they're on-topic.
