It really surprises me that the Creative Commons is so little known,
even in the community most in sync with its goals. I suppose that is a
failing on the part of the promoters of Creative Commons. The idea and
organization were set up by Lawrence Lessig, author of Code and of The
Future of Ideas, and the lawyer for Eldred.
It's a great group. Do a Web search on them; I'm sure you'll find
articles about how they started and what they do.
