What is the functional difference between LinuxDoc and a
comparable subset of DocBook tags[1] with a well-defined toolchain?

The only difference I can think of is the requirement to close
tags, but I don't know LinuxDoc particularly well.

 1. Simplified DocBook would be one candidate, but I imagine
    something closer to a 1:1 mapping from LinuxDoc to DocBook
    could be created.
