Hello everybody, I need help.

I am trying to use aspell the spellcheck a large sgml
file.  The command I am using is "aspell --mode=sgml
check <filename>".  The problem is, aspell is sucking
up tons of CPU time, and taking forever.  Does anybody
have 
any tips for me?
