Although you make a valid point, I must agree with David. Have you read
the HOWTOs in question? Poorly written documentation is usually worse
than having no documentation.
The user of the HOWTOs must be kept in mind. In the case of the
LILO-HOWTO the author starts out with this sentence:
"LILO is the most used Linux Loader for the x86 flavour of Linux; I'll
call it Lilo rather than LILO here because I don't appreciate upper case."
And then goes on to mix LILO and Lilo within the body of the document.
The remainder of the document is confusing at best. The user of this
document is probably someone who has very little prior knowledge with
GNU/Linux, and therefore would need the document to be well written.
Otherwise it just isn't useful.
