I was just wondering ... about this problem ...

1. We don't have a rating system
2. We have no way to record the problems that are reported by people
via the feedback list or here.
3. There is, at time, a problem with maintanance of documents
4. etc.
5. Lampadas, seems to be solution to many of these, but we aren't
really able to make much progress on that.
6. If we start doing something else from scratch, we are just wasting
some efforts that have already gone into Lampadas ...

As a quick fix solution, is it possible to have a Bugzilla deployed
for the LDP? As I see it, there will not be much effort in deploying
Bugzilla and I think few (if not all) of the problems that we have
in managing our docs can be solved.

I know we have to come up with a detailed plan, like what all are the
individual products/components in Bugzilla, who the assigned owners
and QA contacts are for the documents etc. etc. I would also like to
indicate that I am willing to work on a process document if you folks
think that this is a good idea.

We can also possibly come to a document based on what is good and
what is not. For example, the number of votes for a bug in bugzilla
(that are above a certain priority/severity) could indicate the
"quality" of the document.

Note that most of the projects that do GNU / Linux / Open Source have
a decent bug reporting system. The LDP documents are so widely used and
we do not have anything like that. Yes, Lampadas is gonna do that, but
them "show me the code". So what if Lampadas starts working? first, let
it.

Any takers? Is there any interest in this? Do we have to wait for our
Lamapadas to be ready and deployed? I believe that something is better
than nothing, but if you believe that this is nonsense, I'll stop here
because nothing is better than nonsense as someone used to say ;).

Controversy is wasteful, but lays things out, shows where people stand,
(or refuse to), is a necessary yardstick of opinion, and is, heavenly
compared to the alternative of being a helpless silent passive tool of
anybody loud and obnoxious who knows how to bark at some sheep. - Alfie
