Actually, Strunk & White's Elements of Style is pretty handy, and free
online at bartelby.com. I have CMS, but it's the size of my oven - it's

Having done most of my growing up in Canada, I can honestly say that in
school we're taught to spell everything the "British" way...(like words
ending in "or": flavour, neighbourhood, colour).

Merriam Webster online (m-w.com) is a staple, I almost always have it
open in a browser when I'm working on my book. It's not necessarily the
most comprehensive, but it's just so darn convenient!
