There are several online courses that are free....
heres some links:
http://www.fortuitous.com/is/manuals.html -- this is a little old now and 
its sort of well 0% activity (on there sourceforge site..) its basically 
dead...(still good though) targeted towards beginners.

http://linux-newbie.sunsite.dk/index.htm -- Linux Newbie's Admin Guide.

www.linuxdot.org/nlm (that site seems to be not working right now...)

Is that the kind of courses you are talking about?
