As usual, Slashdot is completely unhelpful. To my knowledge (I got bored
of debian-legal and unsubscribed a while back) the debate is only about
GFDL 1.2, and not many LDP documents are under that: the only one I've
noticed is the Samba-Authenticated-Gateway HOWTO. I think it's always
been the opinion of debian-legal that Invariant Sections that cover more
than the copyright notice are probably non-free, and there are a few
more documents affected by that; still not many, though.

I suggest that authors stick to GFDL 1.1 until 1.2 is well-understood,
but apart from that I would recommend not worrying about it for now.
