Well, that was only a feeling, as I'm more in favour of the type of 
document that contains all info and related stuff about a igiven subject.

But indeed, and in view of your remarks about HOWTO's including supporting 
HOWTO's, it would be advisable to spread the work over more people and 
maintain a series of related HOWTO's.  For this to work, however, we would 
need much more interlinking between the HOWTO's.  Each author should take 
it upon themselves to check their documents with the list of available 
HOWTO's, mini-HOWTO's and guides, and refer to these other docs as often 
as possible in their own work (i.e. not just at the end, but whereever 
links are appropriate). 
I also agree with David that as an author, you should try to read related 
docs from other authors and see where they can put in links to your 
document.  It should work two ways, not only the author checking his/her 
own docs.

BTW I'd just call them "related" HOWTO's instead of "supporting" or 
"child" HOWTO's.
