I'd like to add a document I've written on setting up diskless linux boxes
using pxe booting, and the software iscsi initiator package.
it would be along the lines of the diskless-nfs and nfs-root howtos.
Here is the present structure:
1. General Overview
2. Setting up basic iscsi on linux
* 2.1 getting it
* 2.2 compiling it
* 2.3 setting it up
* 2.4 testing it
3. Setting up the filer
* 3.1 installing iSCSI
* 3.2 setting up igroups
* 3.3 setting up luns
4. Setting up linux to use iscsi for root
* 4.1 Overview
* 4.2 kernel considerations
* 4.3 rebuilding the iSCSI tools
* 4.4 building the ramdisk
* 4.5 building the iSCSI fs
* 4.5 booting the iSCSI kernel and ramdisk
5. Netbooting linux
6. Working with lun snapshots
7. Things that don't work yet!
Obviously sections 3, and 6 are Network Appliance system specific, and
could be removed or moved to an appendix, and the rest of the document
would talk about a more generic iSCSI target device.
