All,
more of an introduction than a cry for help (that may come later).
Years back, I wrote 'The Linux Kernel' in glorious LaTeX.
Unfortunately, it's way out of date (it was based on 2.0.*) and, over
the years, I've seen volunteers come and go. Seeing as xml appears to
come of age, I've started to 'port' this to xml. I'm using Red Hat 8.0
and Tim Waugh's excellent Selfdocbook as a guide and texi2db as a
starting point.
Using xml via xemacs plus trial and error seems more or less as big a
pain as writing LaTeX was/is. Maybe slightly less arcane but not much.
Any advice on what-you-see-is-sort-of-like-what-you'll-get tools? The
wiki stuff looks interesting, I don't know how it would scale to a book
sized thing though...
