Feel free to see if you succeed. Last time I had a conversation with the
author about it it ended in claims it should be revised real soon. (That
was when 7.2 was quite fresh.)
So the author has lost a bit of credibility in his ability to maintain
this document.
Just give it a spin and see how it goes. If it doesn't work out we might
work together to write a more up-to-date document. (Calling it "How to
customize your Red Hat Linux CD (set)" for example.)
