I have no intent to give up, and I do try and contain my grumbling to home.
:) It's merely a matter of time bandwidth, not an uncommon problem I am
given to understand.
One question, is there a list of tags normally used in docbook posted
somewhere or do I need to strip out what is used in the LDP template myself?
I have an editor that will display the tags in pretty colors, so as not to
confuse it with text, I just have to build the menu by hand.
I've looked, I just haven't come accross something that says 'Basic list of
DocBook xml tags'. Oh, as things are moving towards the xml, as oppossed to
sgml, will the sgml templates currently hosted on LDP be changed to .xml
extensions or is that simply irrelevant to the whole thing? Hmm... seems to
be a second question here. Ah well.

I sympathize with you, I really do. I faced that learning curve once
myself, as did we all.
Creating SGML is a snap. Rendering output is a bitch. We are working
on it even as we speak. I've spent this afternoon building an email
based system so you can just email your sgml to me as a mime
attachment, and I'll process it and send it back.
Don't give up, please! One day you'll have an epiphany and realize, "I
haven't been struggling for awhile, and gee, I'm actually getting a
whole lot more done in less time than I did on Windows". It just takes
a *lot* of patience to get there.
