This is to let the discuss list know that I think this thread is getting
into the nitty-gritty of the status designations and belongs on the
staff list to reduce noise on "discuss". So I've posted a reply there.
After we get it worked out (or even if we don't) I expect it to go back
on the discuss list. The last post by David Merrill IMO didn't resolve
the problem so we've work to do.
