For what it's worth, I believe the licence used by the
Remote-Serial-Console-HOWTO is free. It's the other LDP License
(http://www.linuxdoc.org/LDP-COPYRIGHT.html, the "Copying License")
which has been considered non-free in previous discussions [1]. Unless
somebody can point out what's wrong with the R-S-C's licence, you
probably don't have to worry.

[1] Modifications must be approved in writing by the author before
    distribution, which means that the document can't be worked on by a
    new maintainer if the original author disappears.
