You may have missed the original announcement, but it went thought the
list since some people sent private replies.

A little recap:
- we do not own linuxdoc.org, and it is heavily cybersquatted (try
linuxdocs.org, etc)
- we had outage problems due to this domain name some weeks ago
- therefore we decided to purchase a short and self explainative name,
tldp.org for "The Linux Documentation Project"
- we will take advantage of this name change to integrate non english
LDPs on the new website, with url rewritting and 3rd level domain
names. The first projects to participate will be en (us !), fr and
br, on en.tldp.org (english documentation), fr.tldp.org (french documentation)
and br.tldp.org (brasilian documentation). The discussions will soon
start with other languages.
Regarding the 6'000 documents on google, don't worry - linuxdoc.org will
still be supported for compatibility reasons. The name change will be
transparent : linuxdoc.org will lead to the corresponding pages on
en.tldp.org, and everybody on the mailing lists will be automatically
transferred to the new mailing lists on en.tldp.org
